Park Avenue Learns and Sings About Teamwork

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

Steve Webb, Samantha the Ice Girl, and Sparky made their way to Park Avenue Elementary School in Westbury this morning, ready to give the students a real treat and have a fun assembly talking about teamwork, but instead, got a little surprise from the students, who had a treat of their own for their guests.  With the gym filled with over 300 2nd graders, they broke out in a song they learned about teamwork for Steve and the gang to show how ready they were to hear what a professional athlete had to say about the concept of working together.  Steve Webb was also presented with a Service Award from the school for helping teach a very valuable lesson to all 650 students who got to be in on the assembly.  The assembly was filled with lots of fun things, like a video made by ITV about the current players and how they use teamwork.  Students also got to take place in a fun race as a team of students raced to dress one of their teammates in full goalie equipment while a teacher had to do the same in all alone.  When the assembly concluded, Steve and the gang waved goodbye to all the students, who each received an Islanders gift bag filled with some great giveaways.  For more information about how you can get the We’re All Islander school assembly program to your school, call (516) 501-6780.
