Presented by (OSI) pharmaceuticals, Wednesday's contest against the Canadiens raises cancer awareness and features "Sticks Out of Their Hands" program

Islanders fans have heard about the Islanders Children's Foundation at the Coliseum for some time now, but on Wednesday, November 21 the ICF will be highlighted like it's never been before.

When the Islanders face-off against the Montreal Canadiens on Wednesday, fans will get an opportunity to learn what the Islanders Children s Foundation has done for the community in the past, what it will do in the future and how they can contribute to help make Long Island better for those who need support. The goal of tonight is to raise awareness of the program and to raise money so that the Islanders Children s Foundation can continue to support Long Island charities.

The November 21st contest will also feature the newly created "Sticks Out of Their Hands" program. Each Islander will donate one of their game-used sticks for this auction where fans can bid of them during the game. The auction is scheduled to run through the end of the second intermission with the winner announced during the third period. The winners will be escorted down to the Islanders  locker room hallway where they will receive the stick straight from the players' hands after the game.

Join us on this special evening as Mike Bossy and OSI Pharmaceuticals, a Long Island based biotechnology company dedicated to shaping medicine and changing lives for patients with Cancer and Diabetes, continue their efforts to help Long Island.  Two (2) OSI Pharmaceuticals representatives will be coached by New York Islanders Hall of Famer, Mike Bossy, as part of an on-ice promotion to help raise money for charity.  For every goal scored during the promotion, OSI will make a donation to the Islanders Children's Foundation.

As you're walking around the concourse, also make sure to stop by the 50/50 Raffle booths to purchase raffle tickets, as proceeds benefit the Islanders Children's Foundation & CancerCare of Long Island

The Islanders Children's Foundation was created in the summer of 2003 and is dedicated to supporting Long Island-based nonprofit organizations that provide opportunities to children. The Foundation will work with those children's charities that focus on the areas of health, education and youth hockey development. Funding for the Foundation is raised by Islanders fans through their participation in numerous fundraising events and activities.

Part of the proceeds raised by the Islanders' team store silent auction during the game will go to the Islanders Children's Foundation. At the auction, which is located on the Coliseum concourse near Section 211, fans can bid on current and past team-signed paraphernalia including jerseys, sticks and framed photos as well as other sports items.

In the past year alone, the Islanders Children's Foundation has worked with groups such as the American Red Cross, Island Harvest, Cancer Care for Kids, the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society and many more. The Foundation has donated over $1,000,000 to those charities and more.
