NYI Blog Box Open on Deadline Day

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

5 Blog Boxers to report and opine from the Coliseum on Tuesday

For the NHL trade deadline on Tuesday, some of the members of the NYI Blog Box will be reporting from the Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum throughout the day. The Blog Box will open at 10:30 am for the Islanders' morning skate and, should any news be announced, the Boxers will be there to cover it and offer their views.

“It's too early to tell right now what's going to happen with the Islanders and the trade deadline, but it's always an exciting day for hockey fans and I'm sure the Blog Boxers will have lots of opinions,” said Islanders VP of Media Relations Chris Botta. “The members of the NYI Blog Box have worked hard all season to give their perspectives to our fans. We think it's great they're able to be at the Coliseum on one of the biggest days of the year.”

As of press time, five members of the Blog Box are joining the festivities. They are:

Tom Liodice of The Tiger Track

Mike Schuerlein of IslesBlogger.com

Ken Dick of Okposo Net

B.D. Gallof of The Bouncing Puck

and 7th Woman Dee Karl

In addition, Jim Baumbach of newsday.com will be in the Blog Box covering the bloggers and the trade deadline.

Said B.D. Gallof: "Something might or might not happen on the trade deadline. But it is a first again thanks to the Islanders for us to have access to a team at the trade deadline in an official capacity. Plus, I hear they'll feed us."

(Gallof means lunch, not scoops).

Of course, NEWYORKISLANDERS.COM will have trade announcements as soon as they're official. You can also expect Greg Logan of Newsday, Peter Botte of the Daily News, Dan Martin of the Post and their colleagues to be all over the trade deadline.

And to talk about it, you know the message boards will be burning up at Islander Mania

We'll see you for Trade Day Tuesday.
