Each Monday, newyorkislanders.com will feature three top performances from the deep pool of Islanders prospects. Third Star – Andrey Pedan
The Russian defenseman had a more productive week than his team, scoring one goal and adding an assist in three games. The Guelph Storm lost to the Barrie Colts and the Owen Sound Attack, but earned a point in an overtime loss to the London Knights. Pedan has posted 18 points (6g/12a) in 26 games, already surpassing his two goals and 10 assists in 51 games last season.
Second Star – Ryan Strome
Strome enjoyed a solid week for the Niagara Icedogs scoring five points (1g/4a) in two games. Strome picked up an assist in a 5-2 win over Peterborough, but exploded for a goal and three assists against the Mississauga Majors. The IceDogs won the game, 5-3. Currently Strome is attending Team Canada’s World Junior Championship Training Camp where he scored in the shootout and during Canada’s Red and White game. Strome has 33 points (16g/17a) in 24 games.
First Star - Corey Trivino
Boston University won both of their games this weekend and Corey Trivino was an integral part of the success. Trivino scored the game-winning goal in BU’s exciting 2-1 comeback win over New Hampshire. He followed it up with a two-goal performance against the University of Maine on Saturday in a 5-1 victory. Trivino is on a four-game goal-scoring streak and has goals in nine of his last 10 contests. That prime production leads BU in goals (13) and points (17) through 15 games.
