New Grabner Gremlin t-shirt available Saturday

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders
Nicknames are commonplace in locker rooms everywhere. This year, Islanders Rookie of the Year nominee Michael Grabner had fans in the Coliseum screaming such names as ‘Grabs’ and ‘Flash,’ but Isles-faithful recently learned of his team-issued new moniker.

During a March question and answer session at the NHL Store with fans, teammate Andrew MacDonald brought a locker room nickname to the public: ‘Gremlin.’ The nickname became so popular, defenseman Bruno Gervais made a t-shirt for the team celebrating this new tag.

An alteration of that shirt is making its way to Islanders Team Store. First announced on Twitter by the Gremlin himself (@Grabs40), t-shirts with an intimidating, yet lovable gremlin caricature go on sale Saturday, May 14.

To celebrate the debut of Long Island’s soon-to-be most popular collector’s item, the Calder candidate will be on hand at the Islanders Team Store at the Westfield Sunrise Mall in Massapequa. Grabner will sign autographs for fans from noon - 1 p.m. Pre-ordering the Gremlin t-shirt guarantees you an autograph. The first 150 fans to pre-order their Gremlin shirt will pick up their shirts at the team store that day and will be placed on a VIP line. After that, it is first-come, first-served until Grabner’s 1 p.m. departure.

To celebrate the release of the Gremlin shirt, everything in the Team Store will be 40 percent off. So, that jersey you've wanted? Now is the time to go for it!

Email orders are for those who are only intersted in the shirt, but not coming to the team store for the autograph session. Email orders are also available for out-of-state, or out of country orders.
