Brock Nelson and Team USA have advanced to the semifinals in the 2016 IIHF World Championships after downing the Czech Republic 2-1 in a shootout in Thursday’s quarter-finals.
Nelson didn’t get on the scoreboard in the quarter-final win, but will have another chance as Team USA gets faces Canada on Saturday at 1:15 p.m. ET. The game will be broadcast via live stream on NBC Sports Live Extra.
While Nelson moves on, Thomas Greiss goes home, as Germany was eliminated by Russia, losing 4-1 in the quarter-finals. Greiss made 33 saves in the loss, his first of the World Championships. Greiss went 3-1 in the tournament, picking up wins over: Belarus, Hungary and Team USA, helping Germany get to the quarters for the first time since 2011.
Greiss finished the tournament with a 2.50 goals-against average, a .903 save percentage and an assist.
