The Islanders salute our armed forces during Military Appreciation Night, presented by AXE, on Saturday Nov. 16. Military heroes from past and present will be honored throughout the game as the Islanders take on the Detroit Red Wings.
AXE has generously purchased tickets to the game and will donate them to military organizations. The Islanders charity of the game for this event is the Wounded Warrior Project.
“AXE is honored to partner with the New York Islanders as a presenting sponsor of Military Appreciation Night,” said Matthew McCarthy, Sr. Brand Director of AXE. “It is a special opportunity to recognize and thank the men and women of our armed services, along with their families, for their incredible service to our country.”
Throughout the evening, the Islanders will honor those who fought, and continue to fight, for our country. Fans are encouraged to arrive early and partake in the night’s pregame events, starting with CPL Jeremy Gaynor (from the US Army at West Point) singing the national anthem and the 106th Rescue Wing (from the West Hampton Beach) repelling from the rafters to present the colors. Be sure to look out for the Islanders Ice Girls, who will be showing their support by donning military-themed jerseys.
