Live Updates - Islanders vs. Senators

7:00 p.m. - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

Pre-Game
Tonight's goaltending matchup is between Evgeni Nabokov and Ben Bishop. This will be the third Senators goaltender to face the Isles in as many head-to-head games this year.

1st Period
5:59: Colin McDonald takes a shot on goal, and Casey Cizikas, crashing the net, slips and plows into Bishop, taking the net off its moorings. No penalty, as there was some other contact with a defenseman that created the collision. Score is 0-0.

6:23: Senators get a wacky goal, something that seems to have happened a lot this season. Sergei Gonchar's shot from the right point gets deflected by Matt Kassian and goes through Nabokov. 1-0 Ottawa.

12:29: Islanders get awarded the game's first power play. Kyle Okposo draws a trip on Erik Condra.

14:29: New York is unsuccessful. Islanders are 0-for-1 on the PP, with one shot.

17:53: Keith Aucoin scores off a change, and his fifth of the season ties it at 1-1. Kyle Okposo attacks and gets below the goal line, spins around and finds Aucoin coming in the zone. Aucoin goes five-hole on Bishop. Josh Bailey gets the secondary.

End 1st: NYI 1 OTT 1. Shots: NYI 9 OTT 6.

1st Intermission: Little nugget from the game notes: Okposo reached a milestone tonight, playing in his 300th career NHL game.

2nd Period
0:14: Maybe the quickest goal to start a period all season for the Islanders, and Josh Bailey makes it 2-1 with his 50th career goal (it's milestone night at NVMC). Okposo looked like his mistimed a shot, but on replay is was just a great fake to a pass down to his line mate. Bailey drove to the net and opened up Bishop for a five-hole shot.

1:06: A hi-stick call to Daniel Alfredsson on Lubomir Visnovsky results in another Islanders man advantage. NYI is 0-for-2 so far with three shots.

1:51: Marc Methot has to be helped off the ice after taking a spill behind the goal line. He's headed to the room and is gingerly walking down the tunnel.

4:23: With the Isles 0-for-3 on the power play, the referees are going to call one the other way. Andrew MacDonald gets a justified 2 for holding.

4:47: Nabokov with an enormous save on Mike Zibanejad from the slot. That'll inspire a chant from the Coliseum faithful.

6:23: Islanders kill the rest of the minor off, and still lead 2-1. Ottawa took four shots on the power play.

10:11: Islanders going back to the PP. OTT has second-ranked PK in the league at 88.7%. Kassian off for interference.

11:46: Beautiful set-up to Visnovsky at the back door for his second goal of the season. 3-1 NYI. Moulson gets the puck down low from Boyes, gets Bishop to drop and makes a backhand pass across the crease. Isles were in the zone that whole PP. Isles are 1-for-4 on the man advantage tonight. Finally solved the Ottawa PK on their 13th try this season.

End 2nd: 16 seconds left on the Isles' 5th power play of the night. NYI 3 OTT 1. Shots: NYI 20 OTT 13.

3rd Period
1:07: Patrick Wiercioch scores on a blast from the top of the zone to cut the lead to 3-2. Puck was definitely deflected in front of the net.

2:15: Zack Smith scores his third of the season to tie this one at 3-3. Two-goal lead evaporated in a 1:08 span. Play started off a faceoff in the Isles zone, and Ottawa was able to work the puck from high to low quickly.

2:15: Looking back at the game sheet, they're now giving the second goal to Jakob Silfverberg, with assists to Wiercioch and Peter Regin.

5:10: Islanders will get yet another power play, as Gonchar gets sentenced two minutes for holding Colin McDonald on an Islanders rush.

7:30: Keith Aucoin puts the Isles back on top 4-3 with his second of the game, and they're going to review this goal for a possible kick. Okposo made a strong effort to get the puck in and deep, and Casey Cizikas got a loose puck behind the net and passed it in front to Aucoin. No. 10 had his stick on the ice while sliding with a defender, and the puck went in on a second opportunity.

7:30: No goal. They called that a kick. They're pretty stingy about that in Toronto. Still 3-3.

17:25: We're still tied at 3-3. Shots: NYI 28 OTT 20.

19:00: Gonchar shoots and the puck goes in on a deflection. Nabokov had just made a huge save on Silfverberg. Ottawa leads 4-3.
