Live Updates - Islanders vs. Rangers

7:00 p.m. - Nassau Veterans Memorial Coliseum - Uniondale, NY

Almost the same group on the ice as Tuesday. Eric Boulton slides into the lineup for David Ullstrom and there's some line shuffling as a result. Lubomir Visnovsky (personal reasons) and Keith Aucoin are the other Islanders scratches.

1st Period
4:50: Henrik Lundqvist with a steady glove save on a deflected blast from the right point by Radek Martinek. Game is scoreless. Shots: NYI 2 NYR 1.

11:51: Michael Grabner snipes one upstairs to give the Isles a 1-0 lead. Islanders had some pressure, and Colin McDonald spotted Grabner with a backhand pass from below the goal line through two or three defenders. No. 40 finished it off quickly. Andrew MacDonald with the second helper.

16:10: Stoppage in play. Still 1-0 Isles. Shots: NYI 10 NYR 6.

End 1st: NYI 1 NYR 0. Shots: NYI 12 NYR 13.

2nd Period
1:49: Islanders couldn't clear the zone, but Evgeni Nabokov makes a couple of huge saves to keep the lead in tact. Shots: NYI 12 NYR 16.

7:12: Stoppage in play. Shots: NYI 16 NYR 18. A few recent chances for the Isles.

8:25: Moulson with a 1-on-1 in the Rangers zone. He deked around the defender, but Lundqvist reached out and got a piece of the shot and blocked it wide.

11:07: First penalties of the game. Joe Finley and Stu Bickel had the gloves dropped but the referees separated them before any punhces were thrown. Both players go to the box for unsportsmanlike conduct. Casey Cizikas goes away for holding, and the Rangers will have a 5-on-4 power play.

13:07: Cizikas rejoins the team, and there's no damage done. Bickel and Finley will leave the box at the next whistle.

16:05: We've got another penalty. Kyle Okposo guilty of tripping. Rangers are 0-for-1 on the man advantage.

18:05: Okposo's minor expires without any real threat. Still 1-0 Isles. Shots: NYI 19 NYR 19.

End 2nd: NYI 1 NYR 0. Shots: NYI 19 NYR 20.

3rd Period
1:07: Nabokov with a huge save on JT Miller from in close to preserve the shutout. Still 1-0.

4:07: Nabokov with some more saves. Shots: NYI 21 NYR 26. MacDonald just played the last 45 seconds without a helmet, and where mere mortals would have shied away, he was fearless in his pursuit of the puck.

6:39: This is officially a goaltender's duel. Matt Moulson just had a golden opportunity with a deflection and a rebound that Lundqvist was equal to. Seconds later, Nabokov made a save on a scoring opportunity the other way. Still 1-0 Isles. Shots: NYI 23 NYR 27.

10:36: Lundqvist bobbles a deflected shot and Okposo gets a whack at the rebound, but nothing is getting past these netminders right now.

13:44: Crazy bounce winds up on the stick on Darroll Powe in the slot all alone. Nabokov stands tall and allows no rebound. Still 1-0. My unofficial number of "Nabby" chants tonight: Three.

14:37: Shot from Derek Stepan from the left side hits a player in front and goes through Nabokov to tie this contest at 1-1. Looked like it trickled through Nabby's armpit.

14:37: That was Rick Nash who definitely got a piece of that. The goal gives him points in eight straight games. Final assist credited to Carl Hagelin.

End 3rd: Tied at 1-1, going to overtime. Shots: NYI 28 NYR 35. Going past regulation for the third time in four games, and the second consecutive time against the Rangers.
