Matt Moulson is out of the lineup tonight. This is the first game he'll miss since joining the Islanders in the 2009-10 season. His streak was 284 consecutive games played, good for third-best in franchise history behind Billy Harris (576) and Bob Nystrom (301). Jesse Joensuu and Anders Lee are in , while Michael Grabner moves to the first line LW spot normally reserved for Moulson. Eric Boulton and Marty Reasoner are the forward scratches. Matt Carkner will not dress on D.

Other big big storyline tonight: Both teams have some firepower going head-to-head. Tampa Bay's Steven Stamkos (26 goals) and the Islanders' John Tavares (23 goals) are the top-2 goal-scorers in the NHL. Los Angeles' Jeff Carter is third with 22.

1st Period
6:37: Penalty. Thomas Hickey goes for cross-checking in the Islanders zone. First power play of the night for either team.

8:37: Hickey exits the box. One SOG for the Lightning during that power play, but everything else was kept to the outside. No extended periods of time with the puck hemmed in the Isles zone. No score yet. Shots: NYI 1 TBL 3.

9:33: Josh Bailey with the best chance for either team during a 3-on-2 rush. He had the puck with space in the left circle, but the 6'7" Ben Bishop came out of his crease to cut down the angle and keep it scoreless.

12:30: Islanders have had a couple of chances, but were unable to connect on some passes. Shots: NYI 5 TBL 3.

14:45: Michael Grabner intercepts a pass just inside the Tampa zone, and skates straight down the slot, flanked by John Tavares on his left. Grabner rifles one high glove-side on Bishop to give the Islanders a 1-0 advantage.

17:55: Great back-to-back saves for the Islanders. Nabokov had the first one, but was laid out in the crease. Vincent Lecavalier had the second opportunity, and I'm not who if Nabokov made a high kick-save or if it hit a defenseman. Either way, Lightning are still off the board.

18:20: Frans Nielsen going away for hooking. Lightning are 0-for-1 on the man advantage.

19:32: Grabner gets in the way of another pass, forcing a shorthanded breakaway. Bishop gets up just in time to make a glove save.

End 1st: After a slow start, Islanders up 1-0 at the break. With a couple of shorthanded chances in the final 30 seconds. Tampa Bay will have 20 seconds of power play time when we start up again. Shots: NYI 12 TB 7.

2nd Period
4:12: Nabokov has been tested. Just survived a turnover right in front that Lecavalier shot right into his gear. Shots: NYI 12 TBL 10. Still 1-0 Isles.

4:44: Richard Panik scores to even it up. Lecavalier set him up for a wide open shot, and it's 1-1.

8:22: Isles score to make it 2-1. Kyle Okposo stickhandles around the zone, and flings one at the net. Puck winds up on Josh Bailey's stick and he maneuvers it around his man and backhands it past Beiley for his seventh of the season.

11:38: A sloppy takedown of Colin McDonald from behind leads to some chippiness in the Tampa Bay zone. Matt Martin comes in and gets involved in the action. The end result is a minor penalty to Radko Gudas for holding. New York will go to its first power play of the night.

15:02: Isles didn't score on that man advantage, and now they're going to the PK for the third time. Joensuu gets nailed for hi-sticking.

17:02: Joensuu skates out, and the home team still leads 2-1. Shots: NYI 16 TBL 15.

End 2nd: NYI 2 TBL 1. Shots: NYI 16 TBL 15.

3rd Period
2:17: Tonight's attendance was just announced. 16,170 in the building today - a sellout.

4:00: A second chance opportunity winds up in the back of the Islanders net. Matt Carle scoops up a rebound after a Stamkos shot went off Nabokov's chest. Islanders could not get a stick on the puck for a while before that. Tie game; 2-2.

10:05: Offsides called on the Islanders after Keith Aucoin jumped way up to grab the puck with his hand right at the blue line. Moment before, Jesse Joensuu powered to the net along the goal line from the right side, and had a couple of shots. Brad Boyes with a follow-up shot, but Bishop kept the puck out. Just saw that Joensuu has seven shots on goal tonight.

12:46: Capuano wants the referees to blow the whistles a little more. A possible holding and interference in the Tampa zone just went uncalled.

13:34: Matt Martin with his biggest goal in a while. He took the line, skated right to left looking for a teammate, and wristed one through a screen and between Bishop's legs. Goalie never saw it. Islanders 3-2. Anders Lee and Mark Streit get the assists.

18:31: Tampa Bay uses its timeout. Still 3-2 Isles. Shots: NYI 27 TBL 21 (11-6 this period). Bishop stays in with the faceoff in the neutral zone.

18:39: Bishop off for the extra attacker.
