The Islanders are back on Long Island for their final home game before the NHL’s Christmas break. The Isles are riding high after last night’s 5-3 win over the Rangers, but the Ducks (8-0-2 in their last 10 games) are a formidable opponent. The Ducks beat the Islanders 5-2 on Dec. 9, so the Isles are looking for some payback. Lineup Notes/Changes:
Jack Capuano is going with the same lineup meaning that Colin McDonald, Peter Regin and Aaron Ness are out for the Islanders. Nabokov:
Evgeni Nabokov gets the nod tonight against the Ducks, his fourth-straight start. Nabokov gave the Islanders quality starts against Montreal, Tampa Bay and the Rangers, so Capuano is riding the hot hand. Grabner:
Michael Grabner busted his slump with two goals Friday night. Grabner scored on a shorthanded breakaway in the first period and added an empty-netter in the third. Secondary Scoring:
Michael Grabner (two goals), Brian Strait, Cal Clutterbuck and Frans Nielsen have scored in the past two games for the Islanders. When in Strome:
Ryan Strome recorded his first NHL point with a secondary assist on Brian Strait’s goal on Friday night.
