Kevin Poulin is in goal for the Islanders, while Chad Johnson gets the start for Boston. Colin McDonald (hip), Brian Strait (upper body) and Lubomir Visnovsky remain out of the lineup due to injuries. Eric Boulton is also scratched for the Islanders.

1st Period
Pretty queit first period, no goals, no penalties for either team.
Shots- Islanders 9 Bruins 6

2nd Period
4:20 Thomas Hickey with a slap shot that produced a big rebound. Matt Martin and  Casey Cizikas were in the area but unable to convert. Still 0-0

6:15 Islanders score! John Tavares batted the puck out of mid-air! Kyle Okposo with a pretty backhand pass to Thomas Vanek in the slot, Vanek shot and Tavares was there for the pretty finish. 1-0 Islanders

8:07 Kevin Poulin with a huge save on Brad Marchand to preserve the 1-0 Islanders lead

13:13 Andrew MacDonald with a big blast from the point, beats Johnson for the 2-0 islanders lead Travis Hamonic and Kyle Okposo credited with the assists.

13:30 Brock Nelsen off to the penalty box for holding the stick. Bruins have the first power play of the game

15:27 Carl Soderberg converts on the power play with good positioning in front of the net. Give Hamilton and Smith the helpers. 2-1 Islanders 

16:08 Islanders goal! Kyle Okposo feeds Vanek on a two-on-one break, who goes top- shelf for his first goal as a New York Islander!  3-1 Islanders

19:04 Hamilton to the box for holding. Islanders to their first powerplay of the game.

End of the 2nd period Islanders lead 3-1. Shots- Islanders 22 Bruins 15.

3rd Period
2:27Islanders to the power play as Krug goes off for hooking

2:48 John Tavares to the box for hooking. Tavares also with an unsportmanlike conduct. Teams will be skatin 4-on-4 for the next 1:40 before the Bruins to the extended power play

7:59 Cal Clutterbuck and Adam McQuaid get roughing minors 4-on-4 hockey for two mins.

11:46 Vanek with a pretty move to get by a defender and get a decent chance on goal. Johnson with the glove save.
