Live Updates - Islanders at Canadiens

7:30 p.m. - Bell Centre - Montreal, QC

Same lineup for the Islanders as Tuesday at Ottawa. Evgeni Nabokov back in goal though.

1st Period
0:49: Turnover behind the net winds up hitting twine and it's 1-0 Canadiens. Travis Moen with the goal. Colby Armstrong with the helper.

8:36: Nabokov with a glove save on an absolute blast of a slapper by PK Subban

11:02: Max Pacioretty on a one-timer from the slot on the power play. 2-0 Montreal. David Desharnais with the set-up.

19:30: Islanders going to the power play with a chance to get some momentum back. Shots: NYI 2 MTL 14

End 1st: Islanders got some chances late, and will have 1:29 of man advantage time to start the second. Montreal leads 2-0. Shots: NYI 3 MTL 14.

2nd Period
0:34: Mark Streit scores and it's 2-1. Streit and Lubomir Visnovsky went back-and-forth at the point on the power play. Matt Moulson may have tipped the puck on its way in. Lesson for the fans: Get back from your intermission bathroom breaks early. Goals are coming quick.

8:30: Pacioretty's second of the game makes it 3-1 Montreal. He took a feed in the slot from behind the goal. Everyone committed to the man with the puck, and Pacioretty was wide open.

9:58: Joe Finley with a big hit on Lars Eller in the corner and Brandon Prust challenges the big d-man to a duel. Finley landed a lot of punches. Montreal will get a power play from the original hit.

16:32: Desharnais finishes a check a little too well on Thomas Hickey and he's off. Second chance of the night for the Isles on the man advantage.

16:57: Moulson's second of the night (scoring change from earlier) makes it 3-2. Tavares made a feed from down low. Islanders power play is 2-for-2, and is even better aesthetically.

End 2nd: MTL 3 NYI 2. Shots: NYI 13 MTL 28

3rd Period
1:57: Nabokov gets in a collision with White, and the goaltender is on the ice. Islanders are going to get a 2-minute power play. Goaltender interference as White's shoulder crashed into Nabokov's head. He's going to stay in the game. NYI is 2-for-2 on the job tonight.

2:05: Boyes gets whistled for hooking. Nobody seemed to know what the penalty was. Quickest power play of the year comes to an end.

3:01: Looks like we'll have a 4-on-3 now, and Tavares draws a hook on Tomas Plekanec.

5:12: No goals on the staggered power plays, but Montreal called for icing, and a tired unit will take a draw back in the Canadiens zone.

9:51: Frans Nielsen from Josh Bailey has this game tied at 3-3. In transition, Nielsen took the feed in the middle, had time and space, and wristed one top shelf over Carey Price's glove. Lots of attack zone time for the Islanders in the third period.

10:10: Butch just broke that one down beautifully on the TV. If you're unclear of what people mean when they say "two-way player," watch the replay of Nielsen's goal. Nice play defensively in his own end to get that rush started.

13:02: Nabokov with a sprawling save on Pacioretty, when the forward had an open net. But Isles will have to go to the penalty kill.

13:27: Big glove save by Nabokov. My TV couldn't follow the puck, so I'm assuming Nabby has super-human abilities at this point.

17:03: Visnovsky called for interference. Late PP coming for the Habs.

End 3rd: NYI 3 MTL 3. Tavares shaken up on the bench. After a very subpar first period, the Islanders will get at least a point tonight. Shots: NYI 23 MTL 32

3:12: Thomas Hickey scores his first NHL Montreal. Congratulations Thomas. Extra effort by Tavares to make a pass from the ground to Michael Grabner. Grabner found Hickey on the other side of the crease. Vision by lots of guys on that play. Isles win.
