by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

The National Hockey League announced today that Islanders forward Anders Lee has been named Rookie of the Month for February, 2015.

Lee, 24, scored at a point-per-game rate through 15 February games, compiling seven goals and eight assists. The Edina, MN, native recorded a pair of two-goal games during the month and posted a career-high, four-assist game on Feb. 14 vs. the Columbus Blue Jackets.

Lee’s 20 goals this season rank second on the Islanders and third among all NHL rookies. His six game-winning goals are tied for the team lead and are most among all first-year players.

The Islanders selected Lee in the sixth round, 152nd overall, of the 2009 NHL draft. In 82 career NHL games, he’s scored 30 goals and 19 assists. Prior to his professional career, Lee played three years at Notre Dame from 2010-2013, leading the club in goals during each season and totaling 116 points (61 goals, 55 assists) in 124 career games.
