Learn To Skate At Islanders Iceworks

by Staff Writer / New York Islanders

The time is now for your child to start skating! Classes are underway at Islanders Iceworks in Syosset, and there are several terrific options for you to choose from.

First of all, there’s the “Learn to Skate" program. Designed for the beginner skater, “Learn To Skate” teaches the elementary skills of skating such as forward, backwards and crossovers, while building balance and speed. Students with hockey skates MUST wear a hockey helmet and a full cage. Children with figure skates may wear bike helmets.

For the younger child, there is “Tots On Ice”—an introduction to the wonderful world of ice skating for pre-schoolers/kindergartners. Children learn the basic skills of skating while developing balance and coordination with an emphasis on group participation and fun.

And for a less-structured environment, there is “Mom/Dad & Me,” which is a great way to bond with your child while experiencing the joys of skating. A roving instructor accompanies the class.

As the official practice facility of the Islanders, Islanders Iceworks is the perfect place for your young hockey player or figure skater to experience an extensive curriculum in a fun and friendly environment.

In addition to the skating classes, Islanders Iceworks offers a large array of hockey classes and leagues. From the novice to the expert, Islanders Iceworks provides Long Island's most comprehensive training programs for children and adults to enjoy the game of hockey, develop new skills and learn from the best.
