The Junior Isles won two games during the opening weekend of play in Quebec.
The team got off to a late start Saturday, with their first tournament game at 8:30 p.m. against the Markham Waxers. There was a crowd of about 1,000 and there was no denying the presence of the New York Islanders fans. Unfortunately the club fell 3-1 in the opener.
On Sunday, the boys returned to the ice at 8 a.m and beat the Citadelles Rouyn-Noranda 5-4. Danny Weight scored the game-winning goal with only a few minutes remaining.
After the victory, the club grabbed a quick lunch and bundled up for an outdoor game at the Mystery, Alaska Park. Since this game was against a local team, the Quebec Remparts, there were media covering the event. The Isles won 3-1.
