Islanders Agree to Terms with Brennan

The New York Islanders announced today that T.J. Brennan has agreed to terms on a one-year, National Hockey League contract.

Brennan, 25, played with the Toronto Maple Leafs organization last season in the American Hockey League with the Toronto Marlies. He won the Eddie Shore Award as the AHL’s Best Defenseman last season after leading all blueliners in goals (25) and points (72). The Willingboro, NJ, native led the Marlies in scoring through 76 regular-season games, while adding 14 points (six goals, eight assists) in 14 playoff games. Brennan played his first AHL All-Star Game last season and was named to the 2013-14 AHL First All-Star Team.

The Buffalo Sabres selected Brennan in the second round (31st overall) of the 2007 NHL Draft. In 40 career NHL games with Buffalo and the Florida Panthers, Brennan has 11 points (four goals, seven assists). He’s also appeared in 301 AHL games with the Portland Pirates, Rochester Americans and Toronto, totaling 199 points (76 goals, 123 assists).
