Has worked with Theodore, Biron and Brodeur

The Islanders have hired Gilles Lefebvre as goaltending coach. Over the last ten years as a coach in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League, NHL consultant and as an independent instructor, Lefebvre has worked with Jose Theodore, Martin Biron, Sebastian Caron, Martin Brodeur and others. From 1987-97, Lefebrve was also an assistant to the legendary Vladislav Tretiak at his goaltending schools in Russia.

"Teaching is a passion of mine," said Lefebvre. "I'm very excited about the opportunity that Garth Snow and Ted Nolan have given me to work with all of the goaltenders in the Islanders' system."

"Gilles is one of the most respected goaltending instructors in the game," said Nolan, the Islanders' first-year head coach. "His reputation as a teacher who gets the most out of his goaltenders is second to none."
