Gets the call after four seasons with the Sound Tigers

The Islanders have named Buffalo native Garrett Timms the franchise's Strength & Conditioning Coach. Timms joins the Islanders after four years with the Bridgeport Sound Tigers, serving as their Head Athletic Trainer and Strength & Conditioning Coordinator of the Islanders' AHL affiliate.

"Garrett has earned this promotion with all of his hard work in Bridgeport," said Islanders head coach Steve Stirling. "He did a great job with our players on the Sound Tigers and I'm sure he'll do the same at the NHL level."

Before working with the Sound Tigers, Timms was the Athletic Trainer for the University of Miami (Ohio), where he oversaw the Redskins' hockey and baseball programs. His experience also includes working with St. Lawrence University, the AHL's Cincinnati Mighty Ducks and the Cincinnati Riverhawks of the USL. Timms received his bachelor's degree in Sports Medicine from Marietta College and his master's degree from the University of Cincinnati in Health Promotion and Exercise Science.

In other news, the Islanders have hired two new members of the media relations staff. Jim Morlock, most recently with the Wilkes-Barre Scanton Penguins of the AHL, has been named Media Relations Coordinator. Corey Witt, an Islanders website contributor and Dragons PR staffer since 2002, has been named Media Relations Assistant.
