Season series (1-0-0)
The Islanders and Canadiens met once earlier this season at Bell Centre, with the Islanders taking a 4-3 win in overtime on Feb. 21. Matt Moulson scored twice, and John Tavares earned two assists as the Islanders overcame two different two-goal deficits. Thomas Hickey's first NHL goal at 3:12 of the extra period was the difference maker.

Canadiens player to watch
Michael Ryder - Right Wing
The 32-year-old Michael Ryder has just one assist in three games since re-joining the Canadiens via trade from Dallas last week, but he posted two goals and seven assists during a six-game point streak leading up to the deal. The Canadiens eighth-round (216th overall) pick in the 1998 NHL Entry Draft skated in 314 games for Montreal from 2003-2008, and has eclipsed 30 goals on three separate occasions.
Islanders Storylines
•The Isles have scored five first-period goals in their last four games after scoring only seven first-period goals in their first 18 games.
•With a shootout win on Mar. 3 vs. Ottawa, the Islanders improve to 2-0 in the shootout this season. Evgeni Nabokov has stopped all four shooters he has faced in the skills competition.
John Tavares and Matt Moulson have combined for 23 goals, the most amongst any two teammates in the league.
