ISLANDERS AT LONG ISLAND RINKS (click thumbnail to view)
Bruno Gervais, like the US Postal Service, makes appearances come rain or shine. This week, during his week-long tour across Long Island, Gervais made stops in the Islanders I.C.E. Tour RV as far east as Hauppauge, where he attended an Islanders Rink Day at the Rinx.

"I had a great time coming back to Long Island to help participate in the summer I.C.E. Tour," Gervais said. "My family accompanied me down from Montreal to experience Long Island in the summer and they could not have had a better time. I attended events at the Islanders team store, Jones Beach, a few summer recreation programs, as well as visiting three of the local ice rinks. Driving around in the Islanders RV all week it felt like one big Islanders party. I look forward to seeing you all during the season."

The week started for Gervais on July 18 with a trip to the Islanders team store at the Broadway Mall. He was met there by a line of more than 200 eager fans for whom he signed autographs, took pictures, and occasionally just shot the breeze. His next stop, a day later, was at the Swim-A-Cross fundraiser. It was his second year at the event, and his second stop at a Red Cross event in as many months.

"I am a proud supporter of the American Red Cross," Gervais said. "You can not say thank you enough for all the work they do. I look forward to my continued work with the organization this upcoming season."

Later in the day, Bruno made his first of two stops at an Islanders Rink Day, this one at the Rinx. On July 20, he made another stop at a rink, this one being Cantiague Park.

It was then time to hit the beach, as Bruno and the I.C.E. Tour traveled down the Meadowbrook Parkway on the 21st to spend a summer day at Jones Beach.

"What's a week on Long Island during the summer without a visit to the beach?" Gervais said. "I had a great time being here and getting to spend some time with the fans. It was a great day."

Gervais closed out his week with stops at two local parks to visit the kids at Allen Park Summer Recreation Program in Farmingdale and Marjorie Post Park Summer Recreation Program in Massapequa. The fans and the I.C.E. Tour braved the rain, and in spite of the wet weather were able to enjoy some rousing games of street hockey.

"I had blast," Gervais said. "It was an honor to see kids waiting in the rain to see us. Playing hockey with the children later in the day was a lot of fun too. I can't wait to see them all at an Islanders game this season!"
