Bailey Named NHL Second Star of the Month

Islanders forward led the league in points in December

The National Hockey League announced today that Josh Bailey has been named the second star of the Month for December.

Bailey scored a league-high 22 points (seven goals, 15 assists) in 15 games this month. The 10-year veteran recorded his first career hat trick on December 14 in Columbus. Bailey is currently riding an 11-game point streak, the longest active streak in the NHL. The Bowmanville, ON native recorded seven multi-point games in December.

Bailey leads the Islanders in points (50) and assists (38). He is tied for the league lead in assists and is second in points.

Bailey's assist on December 29 in Winnipeg made him the first player to accumulate 38 assists in the first 38 games of the season since 1995-96 (Jagr).

Bailey was named the NHL's third star of the week on Dec.18 and second star of the week on November 6.
