A GLOBAL CELEBRATION OF HOCKEY

The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village is a 10-day free fan festival in downtown Toronto at the historic Distillery District from Sept. 16 to Sept. 25. It will be the epicenter for fans throughout the tournament with something exciting for everyone. The free festival will celebrate the food, music and culture of all participating hockey nations. And each day will feature a new and thrilling line-up of fun, family-oriented activities, including:

  • Chance to win prizes and tickets to World Cup of Hockey games

  • World Cup of Hockey live game viewing parties

SCHEDULE

In addition to the daily activities, below are some key events that will take place each day. Please check back later as a full schedule of events, performances and appearances (including ticket information for the Sept. 16 and 23 concerts and hours of operation) will be announced at a later date. 

FRIDAY, SEPT 16
7:00pm    WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY PEPSI PREMIERE PARTY
The festivities will begin with The World Cup of Hockey Pepsi Premiere Party, which will feature the red carpet arrivals of the players competing in the tournament. This will be followed by a large-scale concert on the Pepsi Live Main Stage in the 'East Fan Village.' This concert is a ticketed event and gates to the 'East Fan Village' will open at 3:00pm. Tickets to this concert will be available for purchase and announced at a later date.

The World Cup of Hockey 2016, a best-on-best international tournament featuring more than 170 of the best players in the NHL, will include a free 10-day fan festival in downtown Toronto at the historic Distillery District from Sept. 16 to Sept. 25. The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village, which will serve as the epicenter of the World Cup of Hockey 2016 for fans, will be free and open to the public.

GETTING TO THE SCOTIABANK WORLD CUP OF HOCKEY FAN VILLAGE 

Shuttles

The NHL will operate a daily shuttle service between the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village and the Air Canada Centre. Schedules will be released at a later date.

Walking

From Air Canada Centre to Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village Option 1:

Head north on Bay St; turn east on Front St.; head south on Parliament St.; turn east on Mill St.

From Air Canada Centre to Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village Option 2:

Head south on Bay St; turn east on Queens Quay; go north on Parliament St; turn east on Mill St.

Public Transportation

Toronto Transit (TTC) is the best way to get to the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village.

Subway:
Take subway south to St. Patrick or King station and then transfer at street level to the 504 or 514 streetcar lines listed below.

Take Subway to Castle Frank station on the Bloor-Danforth line. Connect to Bus 65A Parliament. Ride bus straight down Parliament. Exit at Front St. and walk one block south to Mill St.

Cherry Streetcar:
Take the 514 Cherry Streetcar, exit at the Cherry Street Loop. Walk west across the intersection at Cherry St and Mill St.

King Streetcar:
Take 504 King Streetcar. Exit at King and Parliament. Walk two blocks south on Parliament to Mill St.
From Union: Pape Bus 72B, Front & Bay St. to Cherry Beach

GO Transit: 
Take GO Transit to Union Station. Connect to Bus 65A Parliament or Bus 72 Pape or Bus 172 Cherry Beach.

Uber & Taxi Drop-Off:
Visitors arriving to the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village may direct Ubers, taxis and other car services to drop-off at the Trinity St. entrance of the distillery district.

From the East:
Don Valley Parkway to Richmond St. exit, West on Richmond to Parliament, South on Parliament to Mill St. (one block South of Front St.), then left onto Mill St.
Kingston Rd. to Eastern Ave. Then proceed to Front St. West on Front to Parliament, then South on Parliament to Mill St. Left onto Mill St.
 
Queen St. West to Parliament then South on Parliament to Mill St. then left onto Mill St.

From the North:
427 South to QEW. QEW East to Gardiner Expressway. Take Jarvis St. exit, then North on Jarvis St. to Front St., East on Front to Parliament St. then South on Parliament to Mill St., Left onto Mill St.
Don Valley Parkway South to Richmond St. exit, West on Richmond to Parliament, South on Parliament to Mill St. (one block South of Front St.), then left onto Mill St.

From the West:
QEW East to Gardiner Expressway. Take Jarvis St. exit, then North on Jarvis St. to Front St., East on Front to Parliament St. then South on Parliament to Mill St., Left onto Mill St.

Parking

Public transit and free shuttles operated by the World Cup of Hockey are highly recommended when visiting the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village as parking is very limited. Paid parking is available at local Green P lots along Parliament Street with limited availability.

SPONSORS AND ACTIVATIONS 

The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village schedule will feature a diverse mix of programming, designed for fans of all ages. Each day will feature a new and thrilling line-up of live musical performances, big-ticket prizes and giveaways, food offerings from each of the participating tournament countries, viewing parties and the opportunity to see the World Cup of Hockey Trophy and the Stanley Cup up close. The family-friendly festival will occupy the Distillery District plus more than 200,000 square feet of an untouched lot east of Cherry Street, which will be known as the 'East Fan Village.'  

Expected activations include: 
Rogers Fan Hub:
The Rogers Fan Hub will get fans up close and virtual with NHL stars via exclusive virtual reality content.

Molson Canadian Bubble Hockey:
The Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village will host the first-ever Molson Canadian Human Bubble Hockey game, open to fans looking for the ultimate hockey challenge.

Pepsi Live Main Stage:
The World Cup of Hockey Pepsi Premiere Party, set for Sept. 16, with red carpet player arrivals followed by a ticketed concert on the Pepsi Live Main Stage in the 'East Fan Village.' Another premium concert with a headlining act will be held on Sept. 23. Tickets to both concerts will be available for purchase and announced at a later date.

Scotiabank Virtual Arena:
The Scotiabank Virtual Arena will give fans the chance to step on the ice for an ultimate virtual reality viewing experience.

Scotiabank Sport Pad:
Fans can test their skills in real life at the Scotiabank Sport Pad ball hockey rink.

Molson Canadian Hockey House:
The Molson Canadian Hockey House will serve as the VIP spot for fans who want the best seat in the house during live performances and viewing parties, while enjoying an ice cold Molson Canadian (must be legal drinking age).

PROGRAMMING & ENTERTAINMENT

Fan Village will host a variety of free, live programming. Highlights include: 

FOOD AND BEVERAGE

The Distillery District is home to a variety of restaurants - from comfort food to French Fusion cuisine. Restaurants including El Catrina Destileria, Cluny Bistro and Boulangerie and Archeo will be operational during the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village. 

The Distillery Restaurants Corp. will also be providing unique, world-wide culinary options throughout the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village. Enjoy a number of rotating cultural offerings.

YOUTH

On Sept. 22, Col. Chris Hadfield - the first Canadian to walk in space - will join thousands of students participating in a career panel focused on STEM (Science Technology Engineering and Math), in partnership with the NHL and NHLPA's joint initiative Future Goals.

The Distillery District area of the Scotiabank World Cup of Hockey Fan Village will feature a Kids Zone with youth programming throughout the tournament.
