250 tickets available for 7 p.m. home game against the Pittsburgh Penguins

Bill Nowicki, Director of Ticket Operations for the RBC Center, today announced that the Hurricanes have placed 250 standing room-only tickets on sale for the team’s home opener against the Pittsburgh Penguins. The tickets, which cost $85 each, will allow fans to stand in designated areas throughout the arena to watch the game. These are the only tickets remaining for the game.

Earlier today, the team announced its plans and festivities for Opening Night. The Hurricanes have teamed up with Curtis Media Group and Budweiser to host a pre-game party on the RBC Center’s south lawn featuring the band Mr. Potatohead at 4:45 p.m. Hurricanes Radio Network flagship station, Y-102.9 FM (WWMY), will be on hand beginning at 4 p.m., and select concessions, including beer, will be available. Mr. Potatohead will play until approximately 6:30 p.m., 30 minutes before the start of the game, at which time the Hurricanes’ “Here to Play Here to Stay” pre-game show inside the RBC Center seating bowl will begin.

Country recording artist Keith Anderson will perform the national anthem prior to the start of the Hurricanes’ game against the Pittsburgh Penguins. Upon entering the building, all fans will receive a Hurricanes cheer card, complete with a Hurricanes team roster, courtesy of RBC Centura. Throughout the game, the Blue Cross/Blue Shield of North Carolina Storm Squad, new in-game host “Ron the Ref” and Hurricanes mascot, Stormy, will entertain fans and help the Hurricanes’ Promotions and Fan Development Department with games and giveaways.

Following the game, the band Brickhouse will entertain fans wishing to celebrate in the arena club restaurant. The Hurricanes will hold post-game celebrations in the club restaurant for fans following all Friday and Saturday night games this season. Also, fans exiting the building after the game Friday night will receive a miniature Stanley Cup, courtesy of the NHL.

Select parking lots at the RBC Center will open at noon on Friday for fans who wish to begin tailgating earlier in the day. All RBC Center parking lots will be open by 4:30 p.m., and the RBC Center doors will open at 5:30 p.m. for the game.

Individual game tickets for all Hurricanes games in October and November are available at the RBC Center box office, all TicketMaster outlets, at and by calling 919-834-4000.
