HURRICANES LIFT BABCHUK SUSPENSION

Defenseman to report to Albany

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE—February 12, 2007

RALEIGH, NC—Jim Rutherford, President and General Manager of the Carolina Hurricanes, today announced that the team has lifted its suspension on defensman Anton Babchuk. The 22-year-old blueliner will report immediately to the Hurricanes’ top minor-league affiliate, the Albany River Rats of the American Hockey League. The Hurricanes suspended Babchuk after he initially refused to report to Albany on Feb. 7.

The Carolina Hurricanes begin a two-game home stand on Tuesday against the Los Angeles Kings (7 p.m., Hurricanes Radio Network) and will play host to the New York Rangers on Thursday (7 p.m., FSN South, Hurricanes Radio Network).
