HURRICANES' CONDITIONING CAMP BEGINS TOMORROW

Players to test for and workout with Carolina training staff

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – August 8, 2006

RALEIGH, NC – The 2006 Stanley Cup champion Carolina Hurricanes will begin their annual conditioning camp on Wednesday. Ten players either signed or drafted by the Hurricanes will attend the five-day camp which includes a stringent battery of physical testing and training lead by Head Athletic Trainer/Strength and Conditioning Coach Peter Friesen.

Players signed to professional contracts who will attend the camp are defensemen Brett Carson and J.D. Forrest, forward Mike Angelidis and goaltender Justin Peters. Recent Hurricanes draft picks Joe Barnes, Nicolas Blanchard, Stefan Chaput, Bobby Hughes, Justin Krueger and Harrison Reed round out the 10-player camp.

Along with an array of physical testing and training, the players will have one hour per day of on-ice workouts at the RecZone from 3:30 to 4:30, Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The RecZone is located at 912 Hodges St. in Raleigh.
