Caniacs without Game 1 tickets can be part of the party; watch Game 1 on TVs in tents

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – June 5, 2006

RALEIGH, NC –
Howard Sadel, Director of Marketing for the Eastern Conference Champion Carolina Hurricanes, announced today that the Hurricanes’ Front Lawn Party will remain open during all home games during the Stanley Cup Finals for fans that do not have access to the RBC Center.

“We want to give fans that do not have tickets to our home games in the Finals a chance to soak in the atmosphere of our tailgate party and view the game with other Caniacs,” said Sadel. “We believe the atmosphere around the RBC Center prior to home games is second-to-none, and we want to be able to include as many of our fans as possible.”

The front lawn party, sponsored by Budweiser and 96 Rock, begins at 5:30 p.m. on the RBC Center’s South Lawn, directly adjacent to the box office. The band Suicide Blonde will perform prior to Game 1. During the game, fans that do not have tickets to the game will be able to watch the game on televisions inside the lawn party’s tents. All food and beverage normally available prior to the game will continue to be served during the action. Should the Hurricanes emerge victorious, the band will return to the stage for at least a 30-minute set.

The Stanley Cup Finals will begin tonight, as the Carolina Hurricanes take on the Edmonton Oilers for the oldest and most treasured prize in all North American sports. Carolina scored a 4-2 victory in Thursday’s series-deciding Game 7 at the RBC Center to win their best-of-seven Eastern Conference Finals series against the Buffalo Sabres and advance to the Stanley Cup Finals. Some ‘hold’ tickets for tonight’s game are being released throughout the day today, and may be purchased via CarolinaHurricanes.com or the RBC Center box office.

Game 2 will take place on Wednesday before the teams travel to Edmonton for Games 3 and 4. If necessary, Game 5 will take place on Wednesday, June 14 at the RBC Center and a potential Game 7 would take place on Monday, June 19.
