Volvo Rents, the presenting sponsor of the 12th Annual Kids ‘N Community Foundation Golf Tournament, presents the Hardhat Comedy Show this Saturday, August 29. This event is a must for all the Caniacs who are starting to feel like the off-season is just a little (or a lot) too long. The show features Jerry Carroll, the Willow Spring Wildman, and will take place at Raleigh Little Theater at 301 Pogue St. in Raleigh. The show starts at 8pm, but the doors will open at 7pm for anyone who wants to get a good seat. Reservations are required, and they can be made at the Raleigh Little Theater box office or by calling (919) 821-3111.
One of the great things about the show is that the admission is free for anyone who brings 3 non-perishable food items. All food donated will go to Volvo Rents Operation More Care for the Raleigh Food Bank. Monetary donations will also be accepted at the door in lieu of canned food, and these donations will benefit the Kids ‘N Community Foundation. Another great thing is that in addition to the obvious benefits of coming to a comedy show, there will also be an auction of Hurricanes items. It’s been over a month since the last time you had a chance to win some of our awesome memorabilia (at the Wheelchair Hockey tournament), and pre-season’s still a while away – don’t miss this chance!
All in all, there is no downside to coming to this event. Enjoy a free show, help local families in need of food, win Hurricanes gear, and support the Kids ‘N Community Foundation! See you Saturday.
Golf Reminder! We’re all hard at work preparing for the 12th Annual Kids ‘N Community Foundation Golf Tournament, which will take place on September 28th at Prestonwood Country Club in Cary. Volvo Rents, as I mentioned before, is also a presenting sponsor for this event. Year after year, the participants come out and have a wonderful time playing a round of golf with our players, coaches, broadcasters and front office executives. We will also treat attendees to a pre-season game and a VIP Pairings Party the Friday (September 25) before tournament. The Golf Tournament is one of the Kids ‘N Community Foundation’s main fundraisers (along with Skate with the Canes and the Casino Night and Wine Tasting), but in order to make it a success we need your involvement. Tripp Tracy at the Hill Center
Our very own color commentator Tripp Tracy made an appearance at the Hill Center today to give a speech on their first day of school. The Kids ‘N Community Foundation supports the Hill Center, a special school for children K-12 who have been diagnosed with learning disabilities or attention deficit disorders. The Hill Center offers half day programs, so students are enrolled there as well as at other private and public schools. Tripp spoke to nearly 150 students in 3rd -12th grade about how his involvement with a talk radio show during his minor league hockey career led to his current post as a Hurricanes broadcaster, and how important it is to find the things that you’re good at and stick to them. Tripp even had a good answer for the child who asked him if he has to do a lot of homework – in order to give good commentary at the games, he has to research all the teams the Hurricanes are playing. He gave them a great start to the new school year.
