Hurricanes players will wear green jerseys during pregame warmup prior to tomorrow’s game against Buffalo. The green jerseys will be auctioned online throughout the summer with proceeds benefitting the Kids ‘N Community Foundation and Passage Home.
“We are proud to support ‘Go Green Night,’ and to raise awareness of the importance of our environment in our community,” said Jim Blome, President and CEO of Bayer Crop Science LP. “As a company focused on innovations for farmers, helping raise awareness of the importance of the land to provide safe, affordable and nutritious food for all of us today and tomorrow is important. We’re proud to play a part and are glad Hurricanes fans are interested in ways to go green."
As an extension of the “Go Green Night” effort, on April 2, prior to the Hurricanes’ game against Columbus, the team and PNC Arena will hold a Household Hazardous Waste Collection, presented by Ecoflo, from 4-6:30 p.m. in the North Lot of the arena. Fans are asked to bring the following items for collection: paints, solvents, aerosols, acids, pesticides, batteries, propane tanks and fluorescent lights. All participating fans will be entered to win one of the two green jerseys worn during the pregame warmup on Go Green Night, and each will be signed by a Hurricanes player.
All fans dropping off items for collection will enter the main entrance of the North Lot. Those only dropping off items will then proceed through the lot to the drop-off area, the driveway of the 3000 East Lot. The collection truck will leave PNC Arena at 6:30 p.m. No “business waste” will be accepted. For other items not listed, please call Ecoflo at (336) 587-7958.
