RALEIGH, NC—The Carolina Hurricanes will open their 2009-10 regular season on Friday, Oct. 2 at the RBC Center, with a 7 p.m. match up against the Philadelphia Flyers. Following a trip to Boston for a Saturday evening tilt against the Bruins, the Hurricanes will return to the RBC Center on Tuesday Oct. 6, to host their first division match-up against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Prior to Friday’s game, the band Airiel Down will highlight a pre-game party beginning at 5 p.m. on the RBC Center’s front lawn. Food and beverages will be available for purchase, and the party will include inflatables, street hockey, and promotional booths from the Hurricanes’ corporate sponsors. Entering the RBC Center, each fan will receive a 2009-10 Hurricanes schedule poster, and each fan will be handed a Carolina Hurricanes car decal when exiting the RBC Center following the game. Both items are presented by Hurricanes flagship station 99.9 FM The Fan.
Both Friday’s and Tuesday’s games are a part of the Hurricanes’ season-long car flag promotion, which has expanded to include any Hurricanes mark on a car and will now be re-named the Hurricanes car accessory program. The concept of the program is to encourage fans to display Hurricanes marks (flags, magnets, decals, etc.) on their cars en route to a game or at all times. Winners are selected on game days in the RBC Center parking lots and will receive prizes, including autographs, in-game experiences, tickets to future games and more. For more information about the car flag promotion, please visit the Promotions box on the front page of www.CarolinaHurricanes.com.
The RBC Center’s new Daktronics Video Board will also be in full effect on Friday night to kick-off the new season. Parking lots will open to the public at 4 p.m. and fans are encouraged to be inside the RBC Center by 6:30 p.m. to enjoy the opening night ceremonies.
