You may have already seen this on our Twitter feed, but just wanted to post a quick note before I leave for my dentists’ appointment (always keep your stick down, kids!).

According to Coach Paul Maurice after today’s practice in New Jersey, Rod Brind’Amour will return to the lineup tonight as Sergei Samsonov is out with a lower-body injury. For those wondering how long the captain would remain a healthy scratch, a better question may have been how long the team could stay healthy. Answer: one game.

In other news, Cam Ward will get the start tonight as expected, setting the stage for another goaltending duel much like we saw in the teams’ last meeting on October 17, a 2-0 win for the Devils that included an empty-netter.

Much more on the Brind’Amour, Ward and tonight’s game on today’s freshly-posted edition of the Hurricanes Report.

Also, a small plug for the Ultimate Caniac Contest, which we just launched today. Fans are encouraged to upload a short video showcasing why they are the Ultimate Caniac, which could earn you prominent spot on our site and some cool prizes. More information is available here.
