HOME ICE ADVANTAGE
Hockey in Minnesota has never been as successful as it is today. In fact, Minnesota has truly separated itself from other states by every measurement, due in large part to the unique, non-profit community association and high school model that no other state has. In spite of this, Minnesota's hockey success is at risk because of the ever-increasing role of "profit" in youth athletics. The mounting pressure on parents and players to succeed at the highest levels has turned what was once a game into a business.
This is the story of Minnesota's community-based hockey legacy, how it stands up to the privatized models nearly everywhere else in the country and how it continues to shine at the highest levels.
