On this date in 1998, defenseman Luke Richardson played his 800th career NHL game in the Flyers' 3-1 win against the San Jose Sharks at the First Union Center.


Richardson played for the Flyers from 1997-2002 and appeared in 387 regular season games, posting 35 points (7G-28A) and 618 penalty minutes.
 
Two seasons later, Richardson would become the 159th player to reach the NHL Milestone of 1,000 games played (on February 1, 2001).

He was the fifth player at that time to reach the NHL Milestone for games played while playing as a Flyer - joining Bobby Clarke, Darryl Sittler, Craig MacTavish and Ron Hextall, although the NHL milestone for goaltenders is 500 games played.
