February 1, 2001...Richardson Reaches Milestone


On this date in 2001, the Flyers defeated the New York Islanders at the First Union Center, 2-0. Eric Desjardins and Mark Recchi each scored a goal for the Flyers. Goaltender Roman Cechmanek stopped all 22 shots faced to record the shutout.

With his appearance in the game, Flyers defenseman Luke Richardson reached the NHL Milestone of 1,000 career games played. He became the 159th player in NHL history to reach the Milestone.
