Spectrum Classics: Hextall Debuts

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers

Ron Hextall, the Philadelphia Flyers' all-time leader in wins by a goaltender with 240, made his NHL debut at the Spectrum on October 9, 1986. The rookie would lead the club all the way to the seventh game of the Stanley Cup Finals, where it lost to the dynasty of Wayne Gretzky and the Edmonton Oilers. In the process, Hextall would collect the Vezina Trophy as the NHL's best goaltender and Conn Smythe Trophy as MVP of the playoffs.

Now, courtesy of FlyersTV, you can relive Hextall's first game in the NHL and as a Flyer in which he led Philadelphia to a 2-1 win over those same Edmonton Oilers.
