Special night awaits Flyers

by Joe Siville / Philadelphia Flyers
The first two games of the season are in the books and the focus in the locker room is clearly the excitement that awaits them in tomorrow’s home opener vs. Colorado at the Wells Fargo Center, where the Flyers will raise their 2010 Eastern Conference Championship Banner.

With last year’s record breaking crowds, the anticipation for Monday is growing larger among the team. Here is what they had to say:

“Everybody will be excited about it. I’m sure the building will have a lot of fire to it.”

“The atmosphere there, it’s always exciting, but this year with the buzz, I think its going to be that much more exciting.”

“Last year we had a lot of success in the playoffs at home. It’s not a surprise. It’s because the fans here are always behind here and loud and really give you that much more adrenaline when you play in front of them.”

“After the playoff experience that we had last year, the fans embracing us, getting crazier and crazier each and every round, I can’t wait too see them again tomorrow.”

“They’re passionate, but we all knew that going in. They certainly rallied around us and were like a sixth man during a lot of those games. The energy and the buzz in the building… we’re able to thrive off of that and that can set teams back on their heels.”

“Anytime they ask an opposing player what is the toughest road building to play in, this place is the answer. It’s a tough place to play and the fans make it that way.”

“The guys are pretty excited and I hope the fans will be ready to go too.”

“With all the festivities before the game, we don’t want to disappoint the crowd. We’re going to be fired up, skating hard, hitting, whatever it takes to get a win.”

“It’s been a long summer and we’re excited to come back and play in front of our fans and they were such a big help for us last year in the playoffs, so I’m sure they’ll be revved up and ready to go.”

“They just seemed to get louder and louder throughout every game of the playoffs and it definitely fires us up and gets us off to a great start and we just carry out the momentum from there.”
