Philadelphia Flyers Glen Metropolit Hooks Kids on Reading

by Staff Writer / Philadelphia Flyers
Philadelphia Flyers forward Glen Metropolit will read a story aloud and field questions about his challenging childhood with children from the Police Athletic League of Philadelphia’s homework program. Leading by example, Metropolit will discuss how he overcame challenges such as being in foster care and growing up in underprivileged neighborhoods. He will also emphasize the importance of education, literacy, and involvement.

The Police Athletic League’s homework program is designed to offer educational support to inner-city youth with an emphasis on helping children improve their reading skills and self-confidence.

Members of the Delta Dental Ice Team will also assist students in reading and give away activity books and t-shirts.

Tickets to all Flyers home games including the Flyers vs. Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, November 8 at 7 p.m.; Flyers vs. Atlanta Thrashers on Sunday, November 16 at 7 p.m.; and the Flyers vs. Phoenix Coyotes on Saturday, November 22 at 7 p.m. are on sale exclusively through ComcastTIX at or calling 1-800-298-4200.
