The Philadelphia Flyers and FedEx capped off the season with the first Hat Tricks for Kids Hat Toss at the Flyers vs. Buffalo Sabres game on Sunday, April 8 at the Wachovia Center. During the second intermission of the game, fans were encouraged to toss their hats onto the ice "hat trick style" to show support for children battling cancer in oncology units of local Delaware Valley hospitals. The hats were collected and will be given to The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society to be distributed to local children's oncology programs.
The Hat Tricks for Kids Hat Toss is an extension of the Flyers Hat Tricks for Kids program, which was developed to recognize and show support for children battling cancer in oncology units of local Delaware Valley hospitals. Members of the Flyers organization visit local hospitals to show support and distribute Flyers goodies. During the visits, each child receives a Flyers goodie bag, including a Flyers hat and activity book.
