Prior to the start of Game 6 vs. New York Rangers at the Wells Fargo Center, Flyers general manager Paul Holmgren
gave an injury update on defenseman Nicklas Grossmann
"Nicklas had successful surgery this morning to repair tendon damage in his right ankle suffered in Game 4 of this playoff series. Nicklas will be out of action for 8-10 weeks."
Grossmann left Game 4 of the First Round series vs. New York Rangers after suffering a lower-body injury. He appeared in 13 shifts and 8:03 of ice-time before leaving the game.
In the first three games of the postseason, Grossmann averaged 19:10 of ice-time, recording two penalty minutes and six blocked shots.
During the regular season Grossmann missed four games, including the final three games of the season. He posted 13 assists and 14 points in 78 games, while leading all Flyers in blocked shots (174).
