After dropping a close 4-2 contest at home last night to Providence, the Phantoms travel overnight to Maine to take on the Portland Pirates… The Phantoms are 5-6-0-0 in the second half of games on back-to-back nights… Tonight is their fourth road game in the last 21 days… The Phantoms are unbeaten in regulation in their last three road games, going 2-0-1-0, with all three games decided by one goal and two going past regulation play… The Phantoms own an overall record of 6-7-1-0 on the road, where they will spend seven of their next 10 games.

This is the second of four meetings on the season between the two clubs and first since opening night in the AHL on Oct. 15… The Phantoms earned a come from behind win back in October by posting four unanswered goals, including three in the third period to take a 6-3 win… Brayden Schenn led the way with a goal and two assists in the game.

The Portland Pirates have surged to the top of their division by winning six of their last seven games, which included a six-game winning streak before their most recent loss before the holiday break… The Pirates own a 9-2-1-1 record in one-goal games and five of their last six victories have come by a one-goal margin.

4. Player to watch PHANTOMS: Eric Wellwood
After a slow start to the season, Wellwood is starting to put up numbers… He has three goals in his last four games, while firing 12 shots on goal in his last five… Wellwood has eight points (4G-4A) in 25 games so far this season.
5. Player to watch PIRATES: Andy Miele
Miele is currently on a four-game goal-scoring streak in which he has five points (4G-1A)… He posted a goal and an assist in his last meeting with the Phantoms… Miele is also tied for second on the team in scoring with 23 points (9G-14A)… The undrafted forward is in his second pro season after four seasons at Miami University in Ohio… Miele led the Pirates in his rookie season with 38 assists and 54 points, while also appearing in seven games with the Phoenix Coyotes.
