Flyers Recall Pat Kavanagh

The Philadelphia Flyers announced that they have recalled 6'3", 195-pound forward Pat Kavanagh from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Philadelphia Phantoms, according to General Manager Bob Clarke. Kavanagh will be available to play today in the Flyers-Rangers game at Wachovia Center, which starts at 5:00 p.m. Kavanagh has been assigned uniform number #36.

Kavanagh, 26, was scoreless with two penalty minutes in three games for the Flyers this season. In 46 games for the Phantoms this season, he has recorded 15 goals and 14 assists for 29 points and 48 penalty minutes. His 15 goals and 29 points lead the Phantoms.

A native of Ottawa, Ontario, Kavanagh was signed as a free agent by the Flyers on August 22, 2005. He posted 14 goals and 17 assists for 31 points and 87 penalty minutes in 80 regular season games for the AHL's Binghamton Senators during the 2004-05 season. In four NHL seasons with the Vancouver Canucks (2000-01, 2002-03 and 2003-04) and the Flyers (2005-06), he has recorded two goals and four penalty minutes in nine regular season games. Kavanagh was originally drafted by the Flyers in the second round (50th overall) of the 1997 NHL Entry Draft. He was traded by the Flyers to Vancouver in exchange for a sixth round pick in the 1999 NHL Entry Draft on June 1, 1999.
