The Philadelphia Flyers announced today that they have recalled 5-11, 180-lb LW Eric Wellwood from their American Hockey League affiliate, the Adirondack Phantoms, according to general manager Paul Holmgren. Wellwood will be available for the club’s game at Washington on Sunday night and will wear #47.
This is the fourth recall of the season for Wellwood, who turns 22 on Tuesday. He has appeared in five NHL games, recording a goal and two assists for three points while gathering a plus-6 rating. He also appeared in three games for the Flyers during the 2010-11 season.
Wellwood has recorded nine goals and 12 assists for 21 points in 33 games for the Phantoms this season. Over the past two years with the Phantoms, Wellwood has 25 goals and 24 assists for 49 points in 96 games. He was selected by the Flyers in the sixth round (172nd overall) of the 2009 NHL Entry Draft.
