The Flyers return home to the Wells Fargo Center for their penultimate game of the preseason, which has seen them play all Metropolitan Division opponents… The Flyers have won both games of the preseason on home ice, and dating back to last year, have won five straight preseason games at the Wells Fargo Center going 5-0-0 and outscoring their opponent 23 to 9 in that span for an average of 4.6 goals-per-game.
The Flyers face off against the Devils for the first time this preseason and enter a home-and-home series to finish the preseason schedule… The Flyers have dropped three of the last four preseason games against the Devils and are 10-11-1 in the last 10 preseasons versus New Jersey, but are 9-2-0 when playing the Devils at the Wells Fargo Center in the preseason… In the regular season series, the Devils went 3-1-0 in four meetings against the Flyers last season.
The Flyers are tied for fourth in the NHL preseason in goals scored (19) with nearly half of them coming on the power play (8)… The Flyers power play continues to pace all teams in the NHL preseason operating at 36.4 percent, going 8-for-22… Fourteen different Flyers have accounted for 19 of their goals, while 28 different Flyers have recorded at least a point in the preseason… Only two Flyers (Sam Gagner and Brayden Schenn) have appeared in all four possible games for the Flyers this preseason… The Devils did not play a split-squad game this preseason and no Devils player has appeared in every preseason game… The Devils have had 10 different players make up their 11 goals during their five preseason games thus far.
The Russian defenseman signed from the KHL this offseason leads the defense and is tied for the overall team lead in scoring in the preseason thus far with four points (1g-3a) in three games… He has also recorded a point in every preseason game he has played thus far, most recently coming off a two-assist game last Friday when the Flyers beat the Islanders, 5-2… In 43 games in the KHL last year, Medvedev posted three goals and 16 assists for 19 points. The Devils’ fourth round pick at 99th overall in 2011 leads the squad with his two goals and is a +3 in three games in the preseason thus far… He is looking to enter his first full season in the NHL with the Devils after splitting time with the Devils AHL affiliate in Albany and appearing in 34 games in the NHL over the previous two seasons… A native of Lansing, Michigan, Boucher led OHL in 2012-13 with 62 goals with the Sarnia Sting, where he broke Steven Stamkos’s team-record of 58.
