  GAME NOTES  I Preview

This is the first of four meetings on the year between the two clubs and first of two meetings within a week (Nov. 7 at Phila.)… The Devils are 3-1-1 in their last five games and have won two straight games coming into tonight - the first time all season… Last season, the Flyers went 1-4-0 against the Devils, but overall have a winning mark against the Devils going 77-94-15 for a .568 winning percentage.

The Flyers recorded 99 penalty minutes in last night's game vs. Washington, bringing their season total to 268 PIM's and an average of 22.3 minutes per-game, both of which lead the NHL… The New Jersey Devils come into tonight's game, the least penalized team with 84 PIM and an average of 7.0 minutes per-game - they are the only NHL team with under 100 penalty minutes for the season.

The Flyers will have two players out of the lineup for tonight - Vinny Lecavalier is out with a facial injury while Steve Downie suffered a concussion in last night's game vs. Washington… Tonight is the first of five road games the Flyers play in their next seven overall contests… Tonight is the Flyers third set of back-to-back games, they are 0-2-0 in the first two… All three of the Flyers wins this season have come when the team scores first, they are 3-3-0 when doing so and 0-6-0 when the opponent scores first… The Devils are the only Eastern Conference team without a regulation loss at home.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux - (C) #28
Claude Giroux leads the Flyers in assists (6)… He led the club in the season series against the Devils last year with three points (all assists)… This season, He has played the most minutes of any Flyer (261:43) and average time-on-ice (21:48) per game, which ranks eighth among all NHL forwards… In his career against the Devils, Giroux has nearly a point-per-game with 22 points (6g-16a) in 24 games.

5. Player to watch DEVILS: Jaromir Jagr - (C) #68
At 41-years old, Jagr enters his 20th season in the NHL… He is the team leader in scoring so far this season with 10 points (3g-7a) in 12 games… He comes into tonight's game with a five-game point streak where he has a goal and five assists in that span… Over the course of his 20-year NHL career, Jagr has posted 40 goals and 67 assists for 107 points in 86 games against the Flyers… Jagr played one season with the Flyers (2011-12), posting 54 points (19g-35a) in 73 regular season games.
