The Flames come into tonight having dropped six of their last seven games, going 1-4-2 in that span, including their last two games which have been back-to-back shutouts… Of the Flames 13 games so far in December, six have been decided past regulation play… Of their 39 games, 25 have been one-goal games… Calgary has a winning record (7-5-4) against the Eastern Conference and the Metropolitan Division (4-1-3)… The Flames have had a least one point from a defenseman in 35 of their 39 games, which is the second highest in the
NHL… The Flames are tied for second in the NHL with six shorthanded goals.

The Flyers own an all-time record of 8-5-2-1 when playing on New Year's Eve and own an impressive 6-1-1-1 mark in their last nine games on Dec. 31, while the Flames own a 12-7-3-0 record on NYE… This is first of two meetings between the Flames and Flyers this season (Feb. 8 at PHL)… The Flyers have played at Calgary just four times in the last 11 years, winning all four games… Their last loss at Calgary was March 22, 2001… The Flyers have a mark of 21-25-9-0 on the road, and 55-40-12-2 overall record against the Flames franchise.

4. Player to watch FLYERS: Claude Giroux (C: 28)
Claude Giroux is looking to extend his point streak to 10 games tonight… During his current career-high, nine-game streak, he has nearly two-points per-game, posting 17 points (6g-11a) including three straight multi-point games and six multi-point games in total… Giroux leads the Flyers in scoring and is now tied for 17th overall in the NHL with 37 points (11g-26a) in 39 games and is in the Top-10 among NHL forwards in average ice-time per-game (T-9th, 21:11).

5. Player to watch FLAMES: Sean Monahan (C: 23)
Despite missing seven games in the season due to a broken foot, Monahan continues to be at the top of the Flames leaderboard in scoring… The 19-year-old rookie is third on the team in goals (10) and tied for third in points (16) in 32 games, while averaging over 15 minutes of ice-time per-game (15:08)… Monahan was the 6th overall pick in the NHL this past season by the Flames.

"He [Steve Mason] was awesome once again. I know we've been saying that a lot this year… He was obviously one of our better players [at Vancouver] and he bailed us out in a lot of situations."
