Close to home

Scott Hartnell has certainly been a part of numerous charity golf outings throughout his 11-year NHL career. Which is why the Flyers All-Star forward decided to host one of his own in his hometown of Lloydminster, Alberta.

Actually, Hartnell co-hosts the tournament with fellow NHLer Clarke MacArthur, Toronto Maple Leafs forward and Lloydminster native as well.

Thus, the Hartnell & MacArthur Celebrity Golf Classic was born in 2011 and recently took part in its second year just a few weeks ago.

The end result was nearly 200,000 dollars raised by the event for the second consecutive year. Among this year's participants were current Flyers Matt Read, Zac Rinaldo and Wayne Simmonds.

All proceeds raised are invested directly back into the Lloydminster Community, which include local hospitals and school districts.
