The Flyers announced today that the club has hired Andrea Helfrich as its new In-Arena and Flyers TV Host. Want to learn more about her? We sat down with her to get the scoop.

Give us a 30-second introduction of you and your background and…go!

OK! So number one. I grew up in Richboro, Pennsylvania, and I was a super active child. I grew up dancing on a competition team. I did gymnastics and also tried figure skating because I idolized Michelle Kwan when I was little, but my triple lutzes didn't really make it out of my living room. I went to Council Rock South and then went to college at West Chester University to study broadcast journalism. When I got to college I actually joined the dance team and also tried out for my first pageant, which was Miss West Chester. I won, and that gave me the little taste - I totally had the bug. I went on to win Miss Philadelphia, and that was kind of the start of my journey.

During college, I landed an internship at Fox29 which eventually evolved into a little bit of on-camera work. I used what I did on-camera at Fox as my very first reel and got a job at Fox40 as a dayside reporter in upstate New York right after graduation.

Wow, that's a lot longer than 30 seconds, huh? Okay, so after Fox40, I moved to Miami, Florida to host a travel show, and then started really getting into the music and entertainment world. I did Epic EDM, a popular YouTube channel, and then started hosting ULTRA, which is the biggest electronic music festival in the world. I've been traveling with ULTRA across 22 countries, interviewing huge DJ's and hosting behind-the-scenes and travel segments ever since.

What excited you the most about coming back to Philadelphia?

What excited me the most about coming back is I've been to I think 40 countries or so, but there really is no place like home - I love this city. My family is here, so coming back and getting to be close to them and kind of reliving my old stomping grounds is definitely my favorite part.

Sooooo…Flyers fan?

YES. I remember when my parents took me to my first game - the energy and the whole experience of a Flyers game is something that sticks with you. I would definitely say I'm a fan of all the Philly sports too. I feel like I picked a great time to come back because you can really feel the fan excitement across the board here right now. In general, landing this gig has been a dream of mine, and I'm really excited to jump in.

Of all the places work has taken you, which has been your favorite?

I would say my favorite place is either Barcelona, or Bangkok was really great. I love a lot of places in Asia. Tokyo is amazing, the Philippines are also really beautiful…it's tough to pick just one!

Of all the social platforms you use, which is your favorite and why?

My favorite social platform is Instagram because everything is in one place. You have the videos, you have the stories, you can interact with people through the comments, so I feel like it best embodies all of the platforms in one.

What's a famous Philly spot that's a go-to for you?

OK, so I love the Eastern State Penitentiary. My birthday is right before Halloween, and I'm obsessed with Halloween and just really love the vibe of Terror Behind the Walls - so that's definitely up there on my list. I think it's in line with all the cheesesteaks places as well, because who doesn't love cheesesteaks?! And if I have to pick, I'm going with Dalessandro's.

What's your current Netflix/Hulu/HBO binge?

Great question! Right now I'm bingeing The 100. It's a cool a sci-fi show about these 100 kids that are up in outer space because Earth was deemed unlivable, and then they get sent back down and basically have to figure it out and fend for themselves, it's pretty cool.

Do you have any superstitions around hosting or being on camera?

I don't have any superstitions about being on camera, which is probably for the better because that would make my job a lot harder. If anything, I just forget the camera is there, and I always end up feeling like I'm talking to my friend and there just happens to be a big camera right there.

What's your favorite restaurant in Philadelphia?

Double Knot

What are the top three products (of any kind) that you couldn't live without?

I could not live without my passport, my laptop, and Chapstick.

What do you love most about your job?

I love the opportunity to be creative. I take the storytelling aspect of what I do very seriously, and I love putting stories together that are different and interesting. Just that creative output is so awesome.

And of course, making people happy is a big plus too - when you interview them or put them on camera, and then you edit it and show them the end result and their story, it can be really rewarding.

Is a hot dog a sandwich?

If Flyers fans say a hot dog is a sandwich, then a hot dog is a sandwich!…?

Some this or that questions:

                  Cats or Dogs? Dogs

                  Queso or Guac? GUAC!

                  Coffee or Tea? Hmmm, that's a toss-up

                  Jeans or Sweatpants? Sweatpants

Beach or Ski Slope? LOVE snowboarding
