2018 Ice Girl Auditions

Interested in becoming a Flyers Ice Girl? The Philadelphia Flyers are holding auditions and are seeking energetic, outgoing candidates who love the game of hockey! Auditions are open to DANCERS and SKATERS!

Date: Saturday, July 28, 2018

Time: 2pm - 8pm

Location: Virtua Center Skate Zone
601 Laurel Oak Road, Voorhees Township, NJ 08043

Cost: $30 per person


Pre-registration for the audition is preferred and encouraged.

Walk up registration will also be available.

How to Apply:

Step 1 - Pay the Audition Fee
Make a one-time easy payment online with a credit card. The audition fee is $30. Click the "Register Now" button below.

Step 2 - Fill out the Registration Form
Once your payment is processed, you will receive an email within 24-48 hours to fill out the Audition Registration Form. Your audition registration is not complete until you finish both the payment and application components.

WHAT ARE THE RESPONSIBILITIES OF AN ICE GIRL?
The Flyers Ice Girls are a group that represents the Philadelphia Flyers organization on and off the ice. Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Cleaning the ice during media timeouts (skaters only)
  • Performing short dance and cheer routines in the stands (dancers only)
  • Participating in on-camera promotions during the game
  • Visiting fans and special guests during the game
  • Appearing at community events
  • Assisting various departments within the Flyers organization including Marketing, Community Relations, Fan Development, and Charities
     

WHAT SHOULD I WEAR TO THE AUDITIONS?
Please come dressed to impress! Applicants should wear a two-piece outfit consisting of: a midriff-baring athletic top or sports bra with form fitting pants or shorts.  Please wear sneakers or athletic footwear. 


HOW SHOULD I WEAR MY HAIR & MAKE-UP?
Professional looking hair and make-up is strongly encouraged. However, please make sure that your hair doesn't hide your face as one of the items the judges will be scoring you on is how well you demonstrate energy, enthusiasm, and personality.


WHAT SHOULD I NEED TO BRING TO THE AUDITIONS?

  • Valid photo identification
  • Pen
  • Skates (if you are auditioning for the on-ice skating positions)
  • Jacket (it may be cold in the waiting areas)
  • Personal items such as brush, makeup, mirror, etc
  • Water and snacks


WHAT IS THE AUDITION PROCESS?
For applicants who are auditioning for the Skater position, the process will include a skating skill evaluation (forward skating, backward skating, stopping, forward cross-overs in a circle, backward cross overs in a circle, etc.), a public speaking portion, and an individual interview. 

For applicants who are auditioning for the Dancer position, the process will include learning and performing a short dance routine, a public speaking portion, and an individual interview.
 

WHAT ARE THE JUDGES LOOKING FOR? 
The judges are looking for talented, charismatic, and outgoing individuals to become Philadelphia Flyers Ice Girls. Applicants will be judged on personality; skating or dance ability; attitude and energy; professionalism; poise; communication skills; and commitment to uphold the tradition and history of the Philadelphia Flyers.
 

WHEN WILL CANDIDATES BE NOTIFIED THAT THEY WERE SELECTED?
The 2018-19 Flyers Ice Girls will be announced at the end of the audition on Saturday, July 28th.


WHAT TYPE OF COMMITTMENT IS REQUIRED?
Your schedule must accommodate a majority of the 2018-19 Flyers home games. Some flexibility with non-game day events and appearances is also requested.


CAN MY FAMILY WATCH THE AUDITIONS?
No, auditions are closed to the public.   


WILL A UNIFORM BE PROVIDED?
The basic uniform is provided at no cost to you, but must be returned at the end of the season. If you damage or lose your uniform, you will be responsible for payment.

 

WHAT IF I HAVE TATTOOS?

If selected for the team, any visible tattoos would need to be covered for games and appearances. However, tattoos do not have to be covered in auditions.

 

DO I NEED TO KNOW HOW TO SKATE AND DANCE?

No, you will only audition for the role you feel most comfortable with! A dancer wouldn't be asked to put on ice skates, and a skater wouldn't be asked to dance. You do not have to do both.
