WJC Update: Flames prospects

by Staff Writer / Calgary Flames

A snapshot of how the Calgary Flames prospects did at the World Junior Championhips on Day 1 in Buffalo.

The Finns and goalie Joni Ortio, a sixth round Flames pick in 2009, pushed the Americans to overtime before falling 3-2

On the other side of that game was defenceman John Ramage, a 2010 Flames pick. Ramage is the captain of Team USA.

Swedish defenceman Tim Erixon had a great game against Norway in a 7-1 rout for the Swedes. Erixon, a 2009 draft pick, had a goal and was plus five in the game.

Joni Ortio was perfect again for the Finns picking up his third straight win against Slovakia Friday night.

Ortio stopped all 10 shots thrown at him and was taken off to rest for the third period. Ortio is the second best goaltender with a GAA of 1.08 and a 95.2 save percentage.
