LAURENT BROSSOIT - GOALIE - EDMONTON OIL KINGS
Edmonton swept Kootenay in the first round
The 2011-12 season continues to be a banner year for Edmonton Oil Kings goaltender Laurent Brossoit. The Surrey, BC native has yet to be defeated in the postseason as the Oil Kings swept the Kootenay Ice to advance to the second round of the WHL playoffs. Brossoit only allowed 7 goals in the series, posting a 1.75 GAA and a .926 save percentage. He also recorded one shutout against the Ice.
The 19 year-old praised his club for never allowing losing to be option through the series.
"That was the question, whether or not we could go into the playoffs as such a young team and take all of the extra 10 per cent of grit," Brossoit told the Edmonton Journal. "I think we did just that. I mean, all of the players stepped up and we proved (naysayers) wrong."
Brossoit was a brick wall for the Oil Kings during the regular season. He went 42-13-5 and posted three shutouts. His GAA was 2.47 and his save percentage sat at .914. He faced 1705 shots, stopping 1558 of them.
The Flames drafted Brossoit in the sixth round (164th overall) in the 2011 NHL Draft.
